
IB Mathematics - Higher Level
The Higher Level IB Mathematics Course is a demanding yet rewarding course. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed frequently during the two-year program by way of in class assignments, take home assignments and tests. These assessments will be used to provide a predicted grade.
The final grade will be composed of four assessment events: a mathematics project and three papers.

Mathematics Project 20%
All students will explore an area of mathematics and prepare a written report. This project commences in grade 11 and is completed and submitted in the winter of grade 12.
Examples

Paper One 30%
In May of the grade 12 year students will write a two hour paper (exam). This paper covers all of the material covered over the two year program and is written without the aid of a calculator. The paper is marked externally by a qualified IB examiner.

Paper Two 30%
In May of the grade 12 year students will write a two hour paper (exam). This paper covers all of the material covered over the two year program and is written with the aid of a calculator. The paper is marked externally by a qualified IB examiner.

Paper Three 20%
In May of the grade 12 year students will write a one hour paper (exam). This paper will consist of two compulsory extended response problem-solving questions and is written with the aid of a calculator. The paper is marked externally by a qualified IB examiner.
